Patrol Case of the Quarter

OFFICER WAYNE GULSBY & K-9 MISO
ESCAMBIA SHERIFF’S OFFICE

On 10-31-07 at approximately 2000 pm, I was requested to attempt a track. I responded to Pittman Ave. reference to a suspect that fled from a vehicle. The suspect was wanted for VOP Escape. We started a track in the front yard of a residence near the vehicle. K-9 Miso tracked west over a fence into a vacant lot with a lot of tall weeds. Officers looking for the suspect prior to my arrival had contaminated part of the area. After working through that area of contamination, we picked up the scent going towards the north. We tracked behind a business nearby and into and through the business parking lot to a large nearby dumpster. K-9 Miso alerted high on this construction dumpster. It was full of items. I gave two loud and clear canine warnings standing next to the dumpster. There was no response. I placed K-9 Miso into the dumpster. Miso located the suspect in the far end of the dumpster under several large garbage bags. The suspect was arrested without injury.
